MAGNETIZATION CURRENT....

Q. What is magnetization current of transformer?
A. We all know that transformer is working on principle of mutual induction.for mutual induction we need time varying flux. Less than 5% of power which has been given to transformer is useful to produce flux and core losses (which are proportional to voltage and fixed for particular voltage level).
only 1% of no load current is wasted as core losses( hysteresis and eddy current loss),remaining is being used for producing flux in core.
                         No load current  ∝Applied voltage
 Q. Why we are doing at field? how we will do?
 A. In order to check that the transformer was taking right amount of no load current or not, and to find no load loss.
But in field we are not provide with high voltages as transformer ratings.so conventionally we will apply available voltage 415 v.The values we got are not fare but by taking these into account we will approve the condition of machine.genarally we will get in the range of 20mA like that.
